> Yesterday morning while reading a local weekly in a coffee shop we happened upon Jake Shimabukuro and his Grand Ukulele Tour. Managed to score three tickets via Craigslist to the sold out show in his home town of Honolulu so headed into town as they call it here to see him. He played in the incredibly beautiful and acoustically amazing Hawaii Theatre, recently restored to its glory days. Played solo except for a couple of songs with his brother Bruce and with Paula Fuga, whom I told you about last week. This guy can play like anything – great original stuff and inventive covers, e.g. Rolling in the Deep, Bohemian Rhapsody. He got his big break with a YouTube video of While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Check him out.
> P.S. He is playing in Markham next April. Anyone up for a bus tour?”
