Beginner’s Session starts on Tuesday, September 15, 2015

The Beginner session is held on Tuesday nights from 6 pm. to 7 p.m. at the Grace United Church, 18 Chapman St. W., Port Dover. Dennis Murphy, retired music teacher, will cover the basics of chords and strumming downstairs in the Parlor.

Please print out the Two-Chord Ukulele Song Book.  You’ll need a binder or a duotang, folder, etc. because sheets are handed out occasionally.  Please look over the first couple of pages in the 2-chord booklet. You will notice that you’ll print out 3 copies of the same song (there are 6 songs). This is because each song is studied in the Key of C, the key of G and the Key of F. (We usually start with the songs in the F and C7 chord.)

If you haven’t already, you will need to buy a tuner at one of the music stores. We tune our ukes to “C” tuning, which is G, C, E  and A.  Lastly, a music stand would be helpful as well.

Please read our group’s Mission Statement at the bottom of the About page.

AND, to complete your ukulele ensemble, you need a yellow DUH! shirt. Shirts will be available at meetings on Tuesday nights upstairs in the Hall at Grace UC.

Ukuleles on the back are all brown, not coloured as shown.

Hi, I am interested in joining the beginners club and joining the lessons starting Jan. 14/2014. 6pm to 7pm at Grace United Church, with Dennis Murphy. My friend Nancy would like to join as well. We both love music and interested in playing the ukelele. I first learned to play in grade 6 at doverwood public with Mr. Murphy as my teacher years ago. I enjoyed playing we had a good band then. I had a good experience and would like to play again. Thankyou! Teresa.

Hi there, I just ran across this group online and wondered if I could still get in? I’ve had a uke for about 6 months and can play a bit. Would love to improve and spend time with other players who love the instrument as much as I do!
